Toddler Talk

So, it has occurred to me that technology has truly changed the way the brains of our toddlers work. They play video games early and know how to use an I-pod/I-phone/I-pad with great ease. In fact, my three year old has known for quite some time how to pinch and pull pictures to different sizes. She is really frustrated on the regular computer when she cannot do that. However, here is a new one for me: Setting: my daughter getting ready to jump into the pool with her dad. "Get ready dad! Okay...one, two..." "Hold on hon, I am not ready yet. Hold on..." "Oh...oh...backspace backspace. Can I start now?" Backspace, backspace? Really - this is the third time I have heard her use it. And she always uses it correctly...she wants to start over.

Does your child love trains?

My daughter is going to love going to this! I know Thomas the Train travels around the country, so look to see if it will be in your area!

You should know that Stella is 3 1/2

Me:  Can I have a bite of your cookie?
Stella:  No.
Me:  That isn't very nice. Stella:  I think the baby wants a bite, but just the M&M. (Hands me an M&M she has picked off the cookie).
Me:  Thanks.
Stella:  Does the baby like it?
Me:  Yes.
Stella:  I think he (we don't know if it is a he yet) wants another bite.  Here.
Me:  (Looking at the two or three pieces of cookie that were mashed up in her fist.)
Stella:  Baby loves that bite. ******************************************************************************************************* Me:  Stella do you need to blow your nose?
Stella:  Nose, do you need a Kleenex?  No?  No, mama.  My nose doesn't want to blow.

Teach when they want to Learn...

I have an education background, and my three year old wants to learn things all the time. So, we have acquired various items to help her learn skills and concepts she will need as she enters school. This one, look useful, and so I just thought I would pass it on as an option. As a parent, you need to decide when your son or daughter is ready to learn some of these skills, but when my daughter wants to work on sounds, letters, and how they make words, I jump all over it. As they get older, they are not always this excited. This is a great starting point to give your kids a boost for their entire school career!

Today: Mar-lee Ju Boutique

A former student of mine decided to reach for her dreams and go big.  She changed her major shortly into college, lives in Chicago, and decided to go in to fashion for the little folks, instead of journalism.  I am inspired by her passion and love her work ethic (always have), so today I want to help promote her growing small business Mar-lee Ju Boutique!
